Detroit's youth are kicking it - literally, as they play the world's most popular sport:  soccer. Leagues are city-wide and represent boys and girls at every skill level from ages 4-16. Teams play one game per week on Saturday. Practices are scheduled by team coaches and are usually 1-2 times per week on weekday evenings. The season starts on April 18, 2009.

Games are played at Historic Fort Wayne. Built in the 1840's, Historic Fort Wayne, located on the Detroit River on Detroit's southwest side, has twelve acres of land which has been converted to 10 soccer fields. For more information on Historic Fort Wayne, please visit Detroit Recreation Department's website at http://www.ci.detroit.mi.us
