D. Duane Hurtt was Think Detroit PAL's first chief operating officer at the time of his sudden passing in 2007. Hurtt had committed his life to serving children and had been involved with Think Detroit for many years before its merger with the Detroit Police Athletic League.
To celebrate Duane's work for the children of Detroit, Think Detroit PAL dedicated the D. Duane Hurtt Student-Athlete Resource Center in 2007. The Center provides opportunities for children to experience leadership and academic programs to empower their lives.
Each year, the Friends of Duane Hurtt put on the D. Duane Hurtt Memorial Golf Outing. The outing provides a fitting tribute to Duane's memory and raises money for the Student-Athlete Resource Center. |
