Think Detroit PAL will continue to grow its football league with a $60,000 grant from the Detroit Lions Charities (DLC), the non-profit announced earlier this year.
As one its most popular sports programs, TD PAL football provides positive and competitive team play for boys ages 7-14. Noted as one of the nation’s largest tackle football leagues, the program helps young boys build stamina and strength while teaching the fundamentals of football.
“We are extremely grateful to the Detroit Lions Charities for this grant,” said Dan Varner, CEO of Think Detroit PAL. “Funding like this allows us to continue building character in the city’s youth through sports.”
This is the ninth consecutive year that the non-profit has been sponsored by the foundation. Think Detroit PAL concludes each football season with a November championship game at Ford Field, hosted by the Lions.
Formed in 1990 by the Detroit Lions, the DLC in 2007 and 2008 awarded 102 grants totaling $508,884 to non-profit agencies.
“Think Detroit PAL is an outstanding organization that has a major impact on the children of Detroit,” said Lions’ Senior Director of Community Affairs Tim Pendell. “It is a pleasure and honor for Detroit Lions Charities to help support Think Detroit PAL and its youth football league.” |
