THINK DETROIT PAL AND DETROIT RESCUE MINISTRIES PARTNER TO IMPROVE BALLFIELDS
DETROIT RESCUE MISSION WILL CUT GRASS ON FIELDS USED BY THINK DETROIT PAL YOUTH SPORTS TEAMS
DETROIT, Mich.— Think Detroit PAL is partnering with Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries to maintain fields for local soccer and baseball teams.
Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries will cut the grass at Jayne, Maheras, Ft. Wayne, Milan and Peterson parks for Think Detroit PAL to use for its programs. By cutting the 150 acres of park space, DRMM is helping Think Detroit PAL save about $100,000 annually.
“We are thankful and mindful that DRMM has stepped up to the plate to partner with Think Detroit PAL to cut the grass,” said Lawrence Hemingway, chief operating officer of Think Detroit PAL.
“It’s about creating a safe environment for kids to play in the community,” said Hemingway.
Think Detroit PAL was formed on March 1, 2006, by the merger of two of the leading youth development organizations in the Detroit area: Think Detroit, Inc. and the Detroit Police Athletic League (PAL). The organization is one of the largest non-profit urban youth leadership programs in the nation, and serves nearly 12,000 youth annually.
Established in 1909, Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries is a faith-based, non-profit organization providing food, shelter and services to those suffering from homelessness and substance abuse. This is Think Detroit PAL’s first partnership with Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries.
