About
Think Detroit PAL
Making
Detroit a great place to be a kid and raise a family...
|
 |
In
partnership with the Detroit Police Department and community volunteers,
Think Detroit PAL builds character in young people through athletic,
academic, and leadership development programs. In summary, we:
- Annually
serve nearly 13,000 kids with the help of over 1,500 volunteers
- Run seasonal
leagues, camps, and clinics in 11 different sports, ranging
from tackle football to volleyball to soccer to baseball/softball
- Offer
summer leadership camps for middle school students, designed
to help them succeed in school and in life
- Operate
community centers offering educational and recreational programs
for hundreds of children during non-school hours
Where
we have been:
The Detroit Police Athletic League and Think
Detroit have recently undergone a merger and now operate
under one new name: Think Detroit PAL. The creation
of Think Detroit PAL will establish us as one of the largest inner-city
sports leagues in the country. Not only will we ensure that more
Detroit kids have an opportunity to participate in our athletic,
academic and leadership programs but we will also dramatically improve
the quality of our programs. Working together we can accomplish
what we could not accomplish apart!
Think Detroit PAL is a private non-profit with a unique partnership
with police officers that relies on contributions from individual
donors, foundations, and corporations. |
